After Hours vs the Next Open

An After Close (AMC) report hits first in extended hours. That print can gap, fade, or reverse into the next regular session. Before Open (BMO) names print into the premarket and then the cash open. Those are not the same percent.

Live window

After-hours price action captures immediate reactions, while the next cash session open determines the true continuation for names like JPM.

Which number BattleTicker uses

Ticker prior-report actuals are close-to-close session moves from daily bars: After Close = report day close → next session close; Before Open = prior close → report day close. Live HUD and same-evening recap emails may show the extended-hours percent while that session is still open. The page should not mix those two without saying so.

Finnhub calendar hour is only overlaid when the calendar date matches the bar date. If the vendor hour and the bar disagree, the ticker debug line on /t/SYMBOL is the audit trail — we do not invent a third print.

How to read a same-night card

A shareable range card posted the evening of an AMC print is the extended-hours move versus the implied box that was listed going into the event. The next morning the cash session can sit inside a box that after-hours breached, or the other way around. Both can be true.
