Crypto Volume vs Percent Move

BattleTicker is built around equity earnings. On days with no usable stock names, the public X jobs still need a tape. Those fallbacks are crypto — and volume and percent move answer different questions.

Live window

Volume-versus-percentage ranking rules apply equally across digital assets and equities during high-volatility windows.

Two rankings, one rule

Earnings-style posts (what is trading) take the top five coins by 24-hour volume, stables excluded. Recap-style posts (what moved) take the top five by 24-hour percent change, and only if the absolute move is at least 5%. Recaps no longer skip weekends. There is no separate weekend-only crypto job.

Volume without a move is liquidity. A large percent on a thin coin is noise. Using volume for the “what is open” post and percent for the “what printed” post keeps those jobs from swapping identities.

Quotes on the battlefield

Crypto marks try a WebSocket cascade (Binance → Coinbase → Kraken) and fall back to REST plus /api/quote. Status labels are CONNECTING, LIVE (WS), LIVE (REST), or OFFLINE. That cascade is independent of the X ranking rules above.
